Single elimination: lose once and you are out. Fastest format; half the players play only one match.
Guaranteed: at least 1 match(es) per player.
- Early knockout rounds: race to 3; semi-finals: race to 3; final: race to 3.
- A third-place match is played between the losing semi-finalists.
- Byes (when the number of players is not a power of two) are only in the first round and are drawn at random among unseeded players.
